Would you trade Karlsson?
Does anyone have a good argument to trade E. Karlsson now? Value doesn't get any higher...and if I were to look for a trade, how big of a return should I be looking for?
|
No....no I would not.
High value is not a great reason to trade someone like him. Unless you can get a return so ridiculous you can't say no to it. |
Karlsson is part of the elite, and should be treated as such. The only way I would consider a trade is if I would be getting elite level talent back.

Karlsson has huge value in 6D league formats.
The only league where I'd sell high on Karlsson right now is multi-cat with Hits/BkS/PIM. In points-heavy leagues, I think Karlsson should be kept. His value is farther above waiver-wire defensemen than other ELITES relative to their waiver-wire positions. In other words, you have to get two fairly elite players back to trade EK away. |
i thought the idea was to acquire the best players

Why not trade him? Anyone should be somewhat up for grabs. It depends on the league and the cats. If it's a goalie heavy league and you can get an elite goalie, go for it. If you can work him into a deal to get an elite forward, also go for it. Everyone should be movable if the offer is worth it, thats how you get better.

But saying that, you should honestly be looking at using him to buy one of the elite 3 c. If you can pkg J.T. with him and get one of the big 3 back with a lower value but still very serviceable D, then thats where your aim should be.

+1. As for everyone saying not to trade him, keep in mind that they probably would have said the same about Mike Green two or three seasons back. |
If you can trade him in a deal where
a) you win the deal and b) it strengthens your team do it. If not, don't trade him. I don't see this guy pulling a Mike Green in any sense. |
