Spurgeon vs. Ryan Wilson
I took over a dynasty team this year.
Skater Categories: G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SOG,FW,Hits,Blks 12 teams. Mine is pretty awful IMO, but somehow it finished 6th last year and anything can happen with this short season coming up. We start 6 defensemen. I currently have 6, no extras. They are: Boyle, Bieks, Girardi, Coburn, Brendan Smith and Ryan Wilson. Jared Spurgeon is available as a FA. I have essentially no knowledge of Wilson and I'm wondering if I'm best off dropping Wilson for Spurgeon, especially with this news of Spurgeon playing on Minnesota's top D pairing. |
I think Spurgeon's a better choice. He was mildly productive last year with almost nothing to work with, and he had the team's trust in pretty much every situation, so he should be amply rewarded this year. Plus, he was just a -4 as the defacto #1/#2 guy for half the season on the worst offensive team in the NHL.

I like Wilson myself he fills out the score sheet more.....

I'm an Avs fan, I'd still take Spurgeon. He does have more competition for TOI now but still has better potential.
Wilson will at best provide you with more hits but nothing offensively and has had more severe injury problems. |
Spurgeon would be my choice. He's had a solid preseason and has been pegged to be paired with Suter 5 on 5 and will be on PP1 with Suter as well. That PP should put up some serious points and Spurgeon should be the beneficiary of that. One of my sleepers for this year for sure.

Wilson is better on a per-game basis in this format but he is injured way too often. Very frustrating to own.

Thanks for all the input guys
