What rookies?

Do you think a rookie will be close to PPG ????

if yes who is your choice?

Absolutely not. It's exceedingly rare for a rookie to ever achieve that sort of scoring pace.

Off the top of my head the only players who pulled that sort of scoring pace off as a rookie in recent memory are: Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin

It takes an Elite 1st overall pick to make this happen. I mean elite among 1st overall picks!

Define close.

Barring all injuries, my money would be on Huberdeau or Granlund to win the rookie scoring race. But I'm thinking 35 points in 48 games. Maybe 40 points.

Ya it hasn't been done in a few years now....Toews (54 in 64), Kane (72 in 82), and Backstrom (69 in 82) all were in the neighborhood in 2007-08, and Bobby Ryan had 57 in 64 in 2008-09, but no rookie had come close since then until RNH last year. Note that none of those players actually hit PPG, but came close.

I don't see it happening this year.....if any rookie is gonna make a run at PPG I think it might be Granlund. He has the talent, and he's going to get a lot of opportunities. I think Yakupov has a bit too much competition to really make a run, same with Tarasenko (who I love long-term, but I think this year that "scoring by committee" is gonna hurt him). I don't know if Huberdeau has the right supporting cast, and Bartschi I just don't think is quite good enough.

It's gonna be a hell of a rookie crop this year, I just don't know if any of them will put up huge numbers just yet.

I'd echo the fact PPG probably isn't in the cards, but I like the chances Silf and Palmieri will have on their respective clubs if they stick.

Huberdeau will surprise.. I also like that Silf will be playing with Spezza and Michalek..
