First base logjam...

Joined a lovely roto league last year and battled all year with a solid lineup, only to come into this year with 6 eligible first baseman and we only dress 2 with room for 1 more in the DH...

if i was looking to keep 4 of them and deal one before the draft, what is my best option? these are the one baggers to chose from:

Joey Votto
Adam Laroche
Mike Morse
Allan Craig - converted to 1B from OF
Corey Hart - converted to 1B from OF
Micheal Young - converted to 1B from 3B

i know Votto will be the best option to move in a 1-for-1 stud for stud deal but havent had too many bites other than Votto for Kimbrel ( which i am even considering because I need a closer)

other keepers are:
Sandoval
Reyes
Melky
Jennings
Cain
Weaver
Felix
Chapman

I can only keep 4 one baggers and play 3 so i am leaning towards getting rid of Young for sure but not sure what to do with the other 5... the downfall is i have to keep/protect them before i can deal them so whoever i deal has to be protected

thanks for any and all the input

That's a tight spot to be in, but should open up some trade possibilities. First, I'd try to hang onto Young if you can because he's the one guy here that should certainly get other eligibility (3B) right after the season starts.

Otherwise, like you said, the obvious thing to do is deal Votto for a stud somewhere else. If you can get a similar 2B or catcher to Votto, that would be ideal. I'd be touching base with Pedroia and Cano's owners, for starters. Good luck.

thanks but this is a very old school roto league with 3 guys that have been doing it since the late 70s... they used to update stats weekly from the paper and calculate avg and era manually... so what this means is that the position is decided by what position they played the most of the previous year.. which means there is no changing positions once the season starts..

and the downfall with Cano is that my buddy in the league has him and he is really the only guy i know in the league and he WILL not deal me Cano because he has a mancrush on him..

we only start 1 two bagger so i can find that in the draft.. i am looking for a closer or catcher im thinking... even a 3 bagger would be nice because it is ultra thin there and i still need one more to start alongside the Panda...

just got offered this over lunch... Allan Craig for Elvis Andrus??

thinking about it as i need someone for UTIL and that can only be a middle infielder so i would only need to get 1 two bagger in the draft

Given your current situation, I'd jump at that offer. Hell, that's a pretty good offer under normal circumstances! If he's 1B only, then Young is easy to dump at this stage.

Agree, a great trade for you

the position is decided by what position they played the most of the previous year.
Morse played 102 games in the OF and 1 at first

The Corey Hart injury may change things a bit. Assuming you can't work out any additional trades, I'd probably dump Hart, then Young and keep the remaining guys.
