Kipper or Varly
Keeper League - only counts wins. Which one to keep?
Thanks in advance! |
One year would be Kipper, keeper would be Varly. There's too much uncertainty about his age, contract, and CGY decline.
|
Depends on your goals.
Are you a contender today? If you're in a position to win within the next 2-3 seasons, I'd be inclined to keep Kipper in that format. He's still a lock for 30+ wins a year. |
I still really like Kipper. I think Calgary gonna be improved this season and still he's got some gas in the tank left.
|
I'm a believer in Varlamov but I do wonder if Colorado is really ready to make a leap. Kipper definitely offers more short term security. Also, don't rule out a move to a contender for Kipper in the next couple of years, which could extend his value.

Only counting wins, I would take Kipper every single time over Varlamov, but that's for a single season, factoring in that it's a keeper league, Kipper's value takes a huge hit, and Varlamov's recieves a big boost.
Not knowing what your team looks like, I say that f you think you can contend for the next 1-2 maybe three years go with Kipper, but if your more middle of the pack or rebuild go with Varlamov. |
kipper for my vote.
