Keep Fleury or Miller? (W, GAA, SV%)

League and Team in Sig.
Goaler stats are Win, GAA, SV%

Which goaler would you keep?
Fleury or Miller?

Should be close in win totals, but with GAA and SV% in there too, I'll take Miller here. Better of the two goalies IMO.

I agree with CoD. Better goalie and a team that is improving should make the wins a lot closer.

Just to include the last two seasons of numbers:

2011/12:
Fleury: 42 wins, 2.36, .913
Miller: 31 wins, 2.54, .916

2010/11:
Fleury: 36 wins, 2.32, .916
Miller: 34 wins, 2.59, .916

It's close, especially if you feel Miller will bounce back. I also wonder how much Vokoun will eat into his starts, reducing the number of wins. Both have had inconsistent years - Miller's GAA has been north of 2.50 in all but one season, but lately has been better in SV%. Fleury's had some good seasons but some bad ones as well, and usually a worse SV%.

I'd lean towards Miller by a hair, just under the assumption that he's bound to improve with an improving team, and that Fleury can't go much better than his last two seasons with Vokoun right behind him. Close one.

I'd be more inclined to go with Miller. With the Penguins being such a good team and having a guy like Vokoun behind Fleury, I'm sure they will give a decent amount of games to Vokoun, taking away some value off of Fleury. Meanwhile the Sabres will be fighting for a playoff spot, and will need Miller in as many games as he can possibly play given them there best chance to win every single night.

I agree. Miller will be playing a TON of games down the stretch. After burning Fleury out and having an early playoff exit last year, you can bet good money that the Pens will surely rest him down the stretch and give Vokoun a nice amount of games.

Miller - for the reasons above. There may be more games per week with the shortened season and Vokoun should be a quality option in Pitts, eating into Fleury's starts (even more so than he would have in a full season) and therefore his wins.

Good luck.
