New Xbox 360

I just got a new Xbox 360 and want to know how to use it. It is a lot different than the PS3. Can you put music and movies on it from an external hard drive?

Anyone have any tips?

I just set up my new Xbox and want to know as well? Need some tips for Halo 4 online as well.

I assume you have them hooked up to your local networks. Just set up shared folders on your computer and then you can play stuff on the xbox, whether it's music, pictures or video files. There are a few different ways you can do it, but that's the easiest. There's also Windows Media Center if that's your cup of tea.

Well said, hope to square off against you boys in NHL 13!

Gamertag is MacAttack362, I will be back home January 4th.

Enjoy your new consoles.

Anyone playing Halo 4? Do you have any tips or strategies to use? Do any of you play online?

tips and strategies, play spartan ops. It is a great way to learn different weapons and strategies. If you want you can friend me and I'll play, I love the game, but would rather play with people I know (or sorta know) than random people...

Play through the campaign first on the level above normal. there is lots of trial and error (and DYING) but it helps to shape your game for multiplayer. Especially if you haven't played any Halo games before. Plus, the campaign is really fun.

You can pretty much do anything you want.

Connect an external harddrive and play any movie or music files you want. There is a downloadable add on to do so, but it doesn't require a Gold Live Account, just silver (no purchase necessary)
If you have wireless (which if its a new Xbox you probably do) you can connect to other computers on your network and share pictures, watch movies or play music. It is actually pretty fantastic.

The only drawback is the newest movie file format (MKV, not sure if its new actually) but it is Blue Ray burned contect in HD 1080 and I can't get it to play on the xbox through wirelessly connecting to my computer and they don't transfer to external harddrives.

MP4's are a great HD format readable on the Xbox (AVI's are the normal DVD rip)

Just going to second this. You'll still get smoked for your first couple of matches since multiplayer is just so much twitchier than any campaign but turn up single player to Heroic level ( I think that's the notch above normal) and get ready to die. A lot.

Oh, and if anyone wants PM me and I'll add you later tonight :)
