No goalie talk in a week!?!? Upgrades over Hiller and Varlamov?
 

Hey all,
Just something to get a conversation started. I don't have a deal in the works, but thought a discussion like this could help pass the time and maybe even help others.

The league's in my sig, goalies are scarce. I happen to have kept three, Lundqvist, Hiller, and Varlamov, and recently picked up Bernier.

In your opinion:
a) who would you upgrade (trade away), Hiller or Varlamov,
b) who would you want coming back, and
c) what sort of deal would you see happening?

To save time, I'm pretty sure I cannot get Quick or Rinne without sending back Lundy or not making the deal in my favour.

i'd keep bernier on your bench + sit on varly for another season, i think he may be close to figuring out his consistency issues. imo that's what holds him back from being a top ten fantasy tendy and he's still like 24 i believe.

hiller should have good value now but i see it declining eventually, i think he reached his peak in value so maybe deal him for markstrom or lehner ? im taking a different approach in upgrading, so long as this is a full keeper or you have a farm roster to stow them on. Neither will pay dividends this season or next but following that either one could bust out as the next rask/schneider/quick. i think if you get someone whos impatient you can go hiller for markstrom or lehner + maybe a 1st rd 2013 (should be a great draft).

again that is for a dynasty/farm team enabled league.

if this is a limited keeper, try hiller for ward, i think carolina and ward will have a bounce back year and may sneak in as the 7th-8th seed (providing whenever a season materializes).

other targets within reason who i think will post better stats then hiller are;

miller, holtby(call it a hunch), backstrom, kipper, lindback is a darkhorse as well who you could get plus a sweetner.

I would keep Varly over Hiller, but why not trade Hiller and Bernier for an upgrade like Lehtonen, Ward, or Bryz?

I'll try to get Ward. What do you think about Howard? Worth going for, or not worth it? He's rated 18th in yahoo, which seems ridiculously high

i think howard is fine for the next two years but they will be trying to find a more talented goalie down the line. if your going for the win now, then howard is a good option, detroit is still a playoff team.
