Being offered Marleau

For my Voracek. I initially said no.

Marleau is one of those guys that procudes at a good level but nobody likes him. I'd also rather take my chances with Voracek than have Marleau. Marleau is just so boring. Nothing exiciting in owning him. Even if he outscores Voracek by 10 points it likely won't kill your chances in winning your league. Take your chances with Voracek and him reaching his upside next to Giroux.

I'd take Marleau in a heart-beat.
Voracek is all hype at this point.

We have all been discussing the possibility of Voracek being Giroux's RW to start an upcoming season (to replace Jagr).

But the way Brayden Schenn is playing, he might end up being designated for that spot instead of Voracek.

I'd totally take Marleau (proven) over Voracek (hype).

I'd take Marleau as well. You know what you're going to get and even though Voracek could breakout, Marleau could also get back to 70-75 points easily, which would be 20-25 points higher than Voracek's career high. Marleau is also just 33 years old and has a few good years left in him.

Just curious - was this the initial offer? If so, I would consider going back and try to get a bit of an upgrade (picks, depth, not sure what suits) to see if the other manager bites. But that is as a bonus as I would do it straight up.

If your team is competitive this year or the league favors shots and goals, go with Marleau. He is pretty consistent and his only draw back is his age compared to Voracek.

I'd take Marleau over Voracek as well. If you could get a pick thrown in, it'd be gravy.

If your goal is to win a league title in the next 3-4 years, then it makes a lot more sense to go with Marleau in this instance. Voracek has nice upside but at the end of the day, theres no guarantee in upside. Marleau on the other hand can be over a point per game player and at worse, is a 65-70 pt player.

Even if you don't believe your squad will be in a position to win a title anytime soon, Marleau should carry more trade value in most league formats, so owning him should in theory fetch you a better return than Voracek, all things considered.

I will go against the grain here and say I would of said no too. Marleau is already 33 and his production has fallen the last 3 years. If the pattern continues then he would be in the 50-55 point range this year. While Voracek is only 23 and he already has been close to 50 point mark the last 3 seasons. This year he will line up with Giroux and Hartnell anf you know his point totals will only go up. I have Voracek at 65 points this year.

as a voracek owner i think id say no too. the value is there but im buying the hype on voracek.

To that I say who cares about boring? Production = wins. I think this trade is close with their respective trends going in opposite directions but I'm not ready to crown Voracek as a star yet. I think Marleau is the guy to go with here.
