Hartnell/Lindback for Kopitar +
Need some advice on a potential trade, team in sig.
With Thomas taking a year off I'm stuck with only two starting goalies so I'm looking to acquire Lindback who I really like. The owner wants Kopitar who I LOVE so I went back saying I'd consider trading him if Hartnell were involved since I am very weak at LW. Kopitar is arguably my 2nd best player on my team after Lundy but you have to give to get. So my question is who should I include on my end with Kopitar for Hartnell and Lindback? Or am I crazy to even consider trading Kopy? I am really hurting at LW so Hartnell would be a huge addition for me if he can repeat last year's stats and I will need another goalie if I want to compete and Lindback looks to be the real deal. Any input is much appreciated. |
I actually feel like you are buying high on Hartnell and not getting enough value for Kopitar. I don't value big PIM/Hits as much as more offensive multiple category contributors, especially in a H2H league. Also, context is important and since Kopitar is one of your best players, I would not trade him for that package. That being said, if you want Hartnell I would rather you offer Kessel instead and move Neal over to RW if he has that eligibility. That current offer is not enough IMO.

Keep Kopitar, you're set between the pipes. |
I agree with those above, you have absolutely no need for another goaltender with Miller and the NYR tandem. You're set. Be happy with the extra player roster spot.
And your RW looks weaker than LW to me. Will Silfverberg and Atkinson even be on the pro rosters when hockey comes back? No gaurantee. Another thought to consider: Are your roster changes daily? How many players do you start at each position? If you have daily roster changes and only 4D slots, I feel you have far too many defensemen and would prefer addition forward depth. They tend to contribute more. |

If he's back next year... you'll have 4 goalies (with Lindback). I think you should re-consider your need for a goalie. I could very well see Thomas signing a 1-year deal with his hometown Red Wings for 2013-2014. As for the actual deal, One of Ennis/Roy/Hemsky/Markov/JJ/ is a fine throw-in. One of Tavares/Neal/Kessel/Lundqvist/Miller is too much. |
Thanks for the help, gents. I'm gonna hold onto Kopitar and roll the dice with Miller and the NYR tandem. Hopefully Thomas comes back next year and signs with a contender. I really like Lindback in the future and think he's the real deal but I'll need room for Lehner anyways for when he dethrones Anderson (hopefully sooner than later).

Agree with the others - Kopi is worth more than that and you are set at G. Bad deal to make.

You also have Lehner who'll be in NHL sooner than later so there's no need to move Kopitar to get another goalie. Nilsson may be in NHL next year too. Good choice in keeping Kopitar.

I'd definitely stand pat as well. If it comes down to it that you need another goalie due to injury, then consider it. But at this point, such a move is unnecessary.
