greinke deal is for $147M, @ThatSportsGirl had 1st

Source confirms: Greinke 6 years, $147M. His $24.5M average would be highest in history for a pitcher, surpassing CC Sabathia's $24.4M.

The Dodgers continue spending money like drunk college students.

Wow, what a massive deal.

I think Mac meant to say "Wow, what a crappy deal". Anyone giving Greinke this money at this term needs their head examined. I know the Dodgers are in the NL and that's expected to be easier for pitchers but a career 3.80 ERA in the AL at this point cannot make anyone think Greinke is a top 3 pitcher. Top 10, maybe, top 3? Hell no.

He's very inconsistent, heck, he's the definition of inconsistent, and yet they give him this much $$ at this term? Insanity.

Totally agree - I came on here to say the same thing. He's had one great year, and the rest have been decent or average. $24.5M average per season? Ridiculous!

Apparently he has an opt-out clause after 3 years, like CC Sabathia had. Gives him the option to cash in even more if he dominates in LA. Too bad the Dodgers didnt have the same option if he sucks the big one.

Pretty much...pretty much. This is a huge overpayment for a guy that is a borderline top-20 starter.

It just seems like the Dodgers are desperately trying to win after failing so many years and they're willing to take some pretty big risks along the way.
