Apparently the Angels have acquired SP Tommy Hanson from Atlanta.

Not a lot of details released yet.

Looks like they're getting Walden back.

Hanson doesn't look like he'll reach his true potential, so its not like he's an ace. He's a good number two or three starter.

Jordan Walden (RP) going back to Atlanta. Like their bullpen needed more help.

I realize Hanson isnt an ace, but he has to be worth more then Walden straight up.

I don't know, I think I'd rather have Walden. He's 25, throws in the upper 90's and can be very dominant when his command is there. Meanwhile, Hanson is one year older and trending in the wrong direction.

If Jonny Venters can bounce back, the Braves may have the best setup-closer combination in all of baseball.

Dating back to mid July of 11 when he came off the rails, Tommy Hanson has a 4.96 ERA, 1.49 WHIP & 1.6 HR/9 in his last 201 IP.

I agree, it doesn't make much sense to me either. Their bullpen was good and they seemed to be clearly weaker at SP than RP. Maybe they are lining up pieces to make a much larger deal?
