Not really just has interest in trading him but said it would take a good offer.

Granlund, Galchenyuk, and the two first rounders?

Generally after a season like the one Giroux had, you're going to have to overpay, but you have some good pieces to make this deal happen.
As a rule, the biggest piece you give up has to be someone who's upside matches the player you're trading for's downside. So if you figure Giroux's low end value is 80 pts, then you need to pitch him somebody who's likely to roughly that, give or take 5 points. So you're looking for a 75pt guy. So we're talking Eberle, Hall, Landeskog, Eriksson, Duchene or maybe Pacioretty (ordered in terms of where I see their value, top to bottom). Then you have to pay for the descripency between Giroux and the main piece you're offering. 2 firsts is good, but if you really want to seal this, I would suggest throwing in a prospect and use one of the firsts as a kicker. Then if need be, you can throw in a lower draft pick (2nd or 3rd) if he's really dragging his feet. My suggestion: Try to move one of Duchene/Eriksson/Landeskog/Pacioretty coupled with Granlund and a 1st. It may feel like an overpayment, but thats the price you pay for top end talent. Way I see it, if you can get an equal or better return on your investment down the line, it was worth it. All about trade value. |
id start with Pacioretty, Granlund and a 1st. be prepared to add a bit though.

Funny how a lot of suggestions have been referenced as overpayments. I see them all as lowball offers, personally.
For Giroux, I think you should start with what you would offer for Crosby, then dial it back two or three notches. That means at least one of Eberle or Hall must be in the offer... potentially both. If you're realistic about grabbing Giroux, I would start with Eberle, one from the Duchene/Eriksson/Landeskog/Pacioretty group, and your 1st rounder in 2013 and 2014. [sigh] I miss hockey. |

Whatever you do, I wouldn't part with your 2013 1st.

Are the other managers in your league retarded? How do you have 4 of the best 6 players in the league(Crosby/Malkin/Tavares/Giroux), arguably 2 of the best 6 d-men, and the best goalie lol |
