hedman

I'd lean towards Myers of the two, if only because he's had a 45+ season already.

But the thought of Hedman with Stamkos on the PP is also very intriguing. Plus, he seems to have a bit more of a nasty inclination than Myers does, leading to more PIMs.

As for other big, young blueliners....Dougie Hamilton is 6'5". Not yet in the NHL, but he's got all the tools to be very, very good - and his team is pretty good too.

Adam Larsson is 6'3", which may not be what you're looking for, but he should also develop into a do-everything stud for New Jersey.

Hedman is nowhere near "nasty" thats for sure, trust me, Lightning fans such as myself have been dying for him to play meaner/tougher. Potentially, Hedman has a higher offensive ceiling than Myers, although theres no guarantee he reaches it. Myers is the "safer" of the two options. Probably add Erik Gudbranson and Jared Cowen to this list of young "big defenseman" would help a bunch with PIMs, hits and blks, both of which capable of producing 20-25 points annually.

Hes a little ways down the road, but the Jets 2012 1st round pick Jacob Trouba is worth an honorable mention. And another guy not as well known is Nashville prospect Mattias Ekholm.

myers already has a good point season under his belt and hedman seems to be getting a defensive role in tampa.
id take myers first.

No doubt. Hence the use of "seems to have a bit more"..

Neither are out and out ruffians

i think hedman has more potential than ANY defenceman in the league...
TB needs to find a better partner for him to develop properly, but his complete game upside is tops in the game.

With Erhoff and all of the other offensive D in Buffalo ( McNabb, Brennan, Sekera ) I think Myers will play more of a shut-down role AKA Bouwmeester ( not comparing him to Bow just saying don't look for big off. #'s ).

I think Hedman hasn't shown what he's capable of yet. Even with Carle in TB, Hedman will get lots of PP time.

i'd take hedman over myers.

I think I'd roll with Hedman as well. Although, it's so tough to say who'll end up the better fantasy option.

Myers has already shown he can do it before for that reason I say him.
