Draft: Schultz vs others
Team and league in sig.
I have a serious shot this year to win. I have solid keepers and good draft picks. Here is the question. Do I take Shultz? Subban, OEL, MDZ, Carlson, are all available. Do I take a chance on a prospect (looks like a future all star and a solid keeper) if I am going for the win this year. Or do I take a proven dman? |
Points only, I say:
Subban OeL Schultz MDZ Carlson If you're a win now team you should take a proven guy. You also need a goalie by the looks of your sig and that should be your #1 priority. But I'm sure you know that |
Subban
Schultz OEL MDZ Carlson |
I'd take Subban or OEL over Schultz...
my rankings: Subban OEL Schultz Carlson MDZ |
Subban
OeL Schultz MDZ Carlson |
In a roto league subban would be my #1 but in points only I think he loses quite a bit of value..
OEL Schultz Subban MDZ Carlson |
Subban

With that team, you can be a contender for years and years.
With that in mind, not sure your pick between those five is going to make a massive difference this year. IE - the top scorer might hit 45ish, while the next bet will be, what, 38-40. In fact, I kinda think all five will be in that 37-45 range. Is that going to make or break your championship this year? With that in mind, I'd simply take the guy you think will be best down the road...and hope he ALSO has the best year this year. So for me (and this is debatable, of course): OEL Schultz - but I wouldn't shoot you if you took him first. (I have him in two pools ;), so kinda need to say that) Subban MDZ Carlson |
OEL
Subban MDZ Schultz Carlson reasoning: OEL is on a contract year and is nothing short of a stud. His performance will be top notch as Phoenix has consistently gotten better. He was a beast in the playoffs, and is Maloney's golden boy. Subban 2nd because he has the experience over the team capability. Montreal isn't really a contending team from what has happened, but who knows, they could strike gold. MDZ is 3rd as he has experience and a solid team, but he is getting a new contract and may have the casual slump most have. Not to say he wont put up points, but NYR depth on defence is nothing to be shy about. Schultz fourth because you dont know what youre getting. He has been nothing short of amazing in the AHL, but the problem is... it's the AHL. Lockout or not, not everybody can produce in both leagues. (A. Giroux) Carlson last as I feel most Capital's d-men are products of Washington's offence. Carlson is good, but I dont see his potential to be as high as the rest. |
