John Gibbons named as Jays manager
 

WHAT?!...........lol I did not see this coming.

I will say this, it'll be nice to have a manager that will go to bat for his players. That was the biggest thing that irritated me about Farrell. Gibbons has no reservations about telling the umpires just how he feels.

Is this official? Really surprising but this guy was probably my favourite Jays manager over the years.

He finally has a team that can contend in his hands.

I remember Gibbons and Ricciardi having a pretty horrible relationship...a buddy of mine sent me an excerpt from another article that while Gibbons was manager, he had a very close relationship with Anthopoulos.

They still need a bench coach, first base coach and third base coach, don't they?

Apparently Carlos Tosca inquired about the position as well.

He probably said something like: "Alex! Alex! I took an anger management class and I can manage the team now."

I'm not going to lie to you, I'm here eating my cereal getting ready for work and watching Sportcenter and this just came up and I almost puked in my cereal.

WTF are they thinking?

To me, this team is far better and should produce much better results.

Gibbons is a players manager, he sticks up for them and criticizes them when necessary. I have no doubt he'll have control over the clubhouse.

I like this, but I'm interested to see who the Jays bring in to fill the other coaching positions.
