[Cage Match Tournament] #1 Rask vs. #2 Carey Price

This is it ladies and gentlemen, the Elite Eight! The finalists in each bracket. This here determines the Roy Bracket.

As always, remember to cast your votes based on a one-year league with Wins, Save Percentage, Goals Against Average and Shutouts as scoring categories.

#1 Mike Smith vs. #2 Cam Ward
#1 Marc-Andre Fleury vs. #2 Kari Lehtonen
#1 Ryan Miller vs. #2 Jaroslav Halak

Rask should dominate Price in this match-up based on the criteria alone.

Unfortunately most voters can't be bothered to read such criteria...

In a 1 yr pool, I just dont see Price getting as many points as Rask has the opportunity to get. Rask for me.

going with rask more due to his situation than skill.

blayze nails it. Based on the criteria for ONE SEASON it's not even close. The Habs were the 15th place team in the East last year and made minimal improvements in the offseason.

Tuukka Rask for me boss.

dyzfunctioned 10-24-2012 10:32 AM

Price for me, easily, and yes I read the criteria.

In a one-year league there's no way in hell I'm relying on a guy with a career high of 45 starts to be my #1 goalie.

In my ranking I had Price one spot higher than Rask. I consider both to be pretty close as Rask probably has the higher upside because of the team he plays on...however as dyz mentioned Rask is still relatively unproven compared to Price.

Another factor which bumps Price up a bit here is the lingering groin injury that Rask apparently suffered while playing overseas a few days ago.

Last year, on a 15th place team, Price had a .916 save percentage, 2.43 GAA and five shutouts. The Bruins as a team had a .921 save percentage, 2.33 GAA and eight shutouts (Rask started only 22 of those games). If the Habs are even a little better, than his numbers should rival the Bruins, except maybe in the wins department.

Throw in everything already mentioned (Rask never having a big workload and his groin injury), and I'm going with Price.

I'll take Rask. If Montreal weren't awful, the story would be different.
