My goon/grit team

EDIT Jan 17: I'm just continuing this thread (rather than starting a new one). Just looking for specific advice below (post 12) rather than overall. Thanks.

I had a previous thread where I was asking about sleepers for this league which counts PIM, hits and blocked shots:

http://forums.dobbersports.com/showthread.php?t=138934

We've just autodrafted and below is my squad. Unfortunately many teams didn't pre-rank much (or at all) which is a shame especially since they've had plenty of time to do so. There are a few solid teams, but I feel I'm in a great position.

One-year points, 12 teams
PIM=2, Hits=1, Blocked shots=1
Daily lineups, Roster: 12F,6D,5BN
Full season maximum games (pro-rata)

F: Dorsett, Lapierre, Prust, Backes, Callahan, Getzlaf, Z.Smith, Rupp, Powe, Crombeen, Dubinsky, Shaw, Garbutt, Talbot, Moen
D: Girardi, Giordano, Seabrook, Robidas, S.Weber, McQuaid, Seidenberg, Polak

Fantabulous!!

For an autodraft... to land absolute studs in this league format (goon/grit)... nice.

There's still Ott, Martin, Rinaldo, Letang, Neil, Subban, Simmonds, Carkner, Konopka, Lucic, Hartnell, Clutterbuck... unless they are all on one other team, you win!

That's a nice looking team. Should be one of the best teams in the league.

Only player I don't like on your team is Jody Shelley. I can't see him getting regular minutes with the Flyers - if he even gets to play at all. I would look someone to replace him.

Thanks. Given that half the league didn't pre-rank my team is probably stronger than it would have been. The other on-the-ball teams have pretty good squads as well.

Thanks. Someone dropped Dubinsky - not sure why - so I'm going to put in a claim for him. Perhaps last year won't be repeated (100+ PIM, 200+ hits) but he still could be solid. Not sure how much the change in scenery will make a difference. Though with #9 waiver priority, depending on which teams are active now, we'll see if I get him.

However, Travis Moen is a FA, and with a healthy season could be a good option as well if I don't get Dubinsky. What do you think? Two seasons ago Dubinsky and Moen had similar fantasy points:

11/12 (PIM,Hits,Blk):
Dubinsky - 110, 207, 36 = 463 fpts
Moen (full season) - approx 75, 140, 70 = 360 fpts

10/11 (PIM,Hits,Blk):
Dubinsky - 100, 141, 31 = 372 fpoints (on waivers)
Moen - 96, 129, 42 = 363 fpoints (FA)

Though I wonder if I should drop Slater for Moen?

Thoughts?

I have always wanted to play in a league like this - let me know how it goes. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Dubinsky would be great addition to your team.

Moen could be solid too. I'd take him over Shelley and probably over Slater too.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Decided to add Moen and drop Shelley - at least it ensures an upgrade there. I've changed the waiver claim for Dubinsky to drop Slater. Not expecting to get him, but here's hoping.

The claim went through and I got Dubinsky. :)

Congrats. Dubinsky could be golden in that setup (200 hits, 100 PIM and some blocked shots). There aren't too many guys capable of that.
