EPIC BATTLE (2012 Fantasy Baseball Match of the Year?)
 

In the DobberBaseballReadersLeague, the championship match is the most epic battle I've ever seen, in any fantasy sport, ever.

Gotta give some props to two guys (who both passed me in the standing mid-year and NEVER looked back).

One day of baseball left and Ancaster Royals are leading 9-5, but the actual categories are phenomenally close.

This is a great battle for several reasons.

1. Two really excellent & friendly guys that were very active all year & pleasant to chat with on the league site.

2. Both teams really figured out the strategy to win this sort of league. They went with pitching heavy rosters... Ancaster actually doesn't have a bench hitter. Notorious BABIP strategically dropped ALL his closers, punting the one cat (which was a BRILLIANT move, IMO... I watched you myron as you did it, I was thinking "Damn, slick move, I wanted to do that". I actually held one closer myself in my semi-final match only for hopes I'd make the finals).

3. These teams have made brilliant transactions down the stretch. The league has a 4/week transaction limit and these guys have gotten full value out of their moves.


I'm blown away by the 18 Quality Starts that Ancaster has received. I'm sure myron is shocked that the Royals have kept pace in IP & K even while still rostering a few closers.
It's amazing really, that pitching staff.

I know that the list of stats should show you this....but this has been aggrevatingly close like you wouldn't believe. For instance...Monday I believe I started the day up 10-2 (and this is after going a week already because the final is 1.5 weeks), and somehow at one point in the night Myron was up 7-6!! I think we finished the night me up 8-6.

I did some calculations and we actually both had exactly 106 hits each during the week.

Just seeing this now, thanks for the kind words P7 it really was a crazy matchup. As hockeyrobot said on the league page it was not a close matchup but it really was a close matchup. I was able to keep it close but never really able to take a lead in many categories.


I kinda regret doing this now, if I hadn't I probably win the league as I only needed to take one more category to win the matchup

I hope we can do this league again it was a lot of fun, maybe we can get a few more people and make it a 12 team league

Count me in. The summer months are so devoid of fantasy sports that another baseball league is no problem.
