Omark signs one-year-deal with swiss team zug
sorry here is the link http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=404077 |
I'm curious, is this one of those deals with a lockout clause?
I hope so as he has a lot of potential on other teams in the league, I think. At least as a 3rd liner with shootout specialty written all over him.
if the nhl doesnt get thiss mess sorted out a lot more are going to follow.
Not sure if this is one of those lockout type contracts but from what I've been reading it sounds like a lot of the North American players are planning on playing in the Swiss leagues while the other nationalities plan on returning to their respective home countries (i.e. Malkin in Russia, Selanne in Finland). Not sure if this was the norm during the last lockout cuz I didn't start following hockey really until a couple of seasons after the last lockout.
It's not a lockout deal, it's a normal deal. Omark doesn't have an NHL contract right now.
Do we know if there's a clause in there for him to still sign an NHL contract if he wants to?

Ahh, that makes it clearer for me. Well, perhaps he saw the writing on the wall and went for it.

Omark is having a nice season in Switzerland. Second in scoring with 41 points in 27 games. Only his linemate Damien Brunner has more points (44). Hopefully he'll get another shot in NHL next year. It won't happen in Edmonton so hopefully they trade his rights to a team that can give Omark a real shot in a top-6 role and is willing to let him play by his strengths.
