mikael granlund
what type of point totals can we expect from him? does he make the team and get decent minutes? If i draft him would it be a safe bet to assume im getting 50ish points?
|
50 for any rookie is a lot to expect. I'm not saying he can't do it, but I'd temper expectations.
|
its going to be a risky situation, granlund will have a hard time transitioning over to the american game as he's severly undersized and played his career internationally.
i say 40 pts is a realistic prediction, but he could hit 50-60 if he dominates like he is oversea |
Tremendous hands and talent in the offensive zone should get him 30-35 pts. But this is Minnesota who stuggles with consistant offence. The health of Mikko Koivu will play a big part in Granlunds totals. If Mikko stays healthy and Granlund either plays with or is facing lesser assignments because of Mikko then 35 is obtainable. If the Wild stuggle with injuries as they usually do and focus can be places on Granlund I doubt he cracks 30.

I'd expect that it would be reasonable to project him around 40 points his first season. He's a great player and will be given chances to succeed on the PP and with good playing time.
|
I expect atleast 40 points from Granlund next year. He should see minutes on the 1st line next to Koivu and Heatley and see lots of PP-minutes too. The opportunity is there for him to put up points right away.
|
I would look at 40 as a ballpark for Granlund as well. I think he's too good to stick in the 30's, but expecting 50+ from a rookie is risky. So 40 looks like a nice number to me.

"If" Parise ended up with the Wild, would that help or hurt Granlund?
|
I'd put Granlund on 35-40 points for next year. He has exceeded expectations on every level he's played so far, but I wouldn't count on him scoring much more than 40 in his first year. Actually I doubt he'll even play more than 60 games, he's a bit injury prone.

I'm saying atleast 40, this kid has talent and is ready to play..
