My wife got some duct cleaners yesterday to do a bunch of stuff, and one of the things they did was "inspect" the furnace (Note: I have no idea what they did to constitute an inspection). Anyways, they charged us $80 for it without us telling us in advance there was going to be a fee.
So my wife called up the company to complain. The manager got pretty angry, and said a yearly furnace inspection was mandatory. He said they could refund the money, but they would need to come back to take back the sticker they put on the furnace, and an inspector would be visiting our house within 30 days.
My wife said she would peel off the sticker and send it back to them, and the manager said no one is allowed to move the sticker.
Personally, I think it’s all BS and the manager is trying to scare us into not taking the refund, which is actually having the opposite effect as it’s making us more determined to prove him wrong.
Anyone know if it is mandatory? If it is, we’ll just pay it. If not, we’ll get the refund.
