I am in a playoff pool at a customers tomorrow night:
20 people in the pool, 7 skaters and 1 goalie.
3 points for a goalie win, 1 point for points
Last pick gets 1st Goalie pick in the final round.
I have come to the conclusion that picking the right Goalie will guarantee you have a very very good shot at winning this pool. Assuming Chicago wins the cup and Crawford plays every game, thats 48 points just from Crawford. If Chicago went to game 7 every single time, they could play 28 games total - what are the chances of Kaner or Toews putting up 48 points in 28 games?
I have been contemplating trading whatever pick I get with whoever has the 20th pick. I could go with Fleury, Crawford, Rask etc. Based solely on points over the season and assuming the guys in this pool arent picking only from good teams I figure the 20th overall pick could be someone who put up 35-40 points this season.
Thoughts on trying to get the 1st goalie pick?
Also, who do you think goes far? I believe pittsburgh and chicago are favorites for good reason and although having the #1 seeds meet in the finals hasnt happened for a very long time, I feel like these two teams could do it. I like Anaheim, LA and Boston too!
For wins how would you rank playoff goalies? Would you take Fleury over Crawford due to Emery potentially starting a game or two?
